I would like to know a bit about the operation
In most cases, the new kidney is placed inside the lower part of your tummy above the crease of your groin, which would leave you with a scar running across the lower part of the tummy where scars usually fade well.
The renal artery and the renal vein of the new kidney are joined to a large artery and a large vein, which lie in this area called the iliac vessels (pronounced i-lee-ak). This gives the new kidney a strong circulation.
The surgeon then makes a hole in the side of your bladder to receive the end of the ureter so that urine from the new kidney can drain straight into your bladder. When everything inside is neat and tidy, the opening in the muscles of your tummy is stitched and a dressing is placed over the scar. A drain may be left in for a day or so.
