Will my kidney last forever?

Probably not, unless you have received a kidney from a living donor whose tissue type matches yours very closely. Your immune system is very stubborn and will win the battle to reject your transplanted kidney in the end but, more than likely, the battle will last for many years.

Enjoy these years while you can and remember that, if you do reject a kidney transplant, there is always the possibility that you could have another one.
