Derriford Hospital

Derriford Hospital is situated to the north of the historic naval city of Plymouth and is set in a delightful wooded/green field location close to Plymouth airport. It was opened in 1981 and ever since then has undergone major redevelopment programs making it one of the largest and most modern hospitals in the South West of England.

The renal unit moved to the Derriford site in 1981 and has been located on level 3 since 1986.
Carey ward is a 31 bedded renal ward with 6 level one beds including the transplant bay. There is a relative’s room situated on Carey ward, which can be used for relatives of patients wishing to stay over night (Relatives room may not always be available).

The Renal unit incorporates dedicated teams on site specialising in Transplantation, Haemodialysis, CAPD, Pre-dialysis, Arterio-Venous access, Renal dietary requirements and staff development.
